Richard's Grebe is an Iain Oughtred Tammie Norrie design, 4.1m (13' 6") long. It's used mainly for rowing, though it also has a simple standing lug rig with a single loose-footed sail.

Skerry (under construction) is an Eun Mara design. (A mini sailing cruiser, also from Iain Oughtred.)

Launch of Cormorant - 21 Jan 2007 - with words from the proud launcher!

Well, the launching of Cormorant on Sunday proceeded fine, and with a small amount of due ceremony. Bit light on with TBSA members, though! Mark, Nat and Mark's sister were there initially, and I bumped into Iain later on in the day.
Sea trials gave 9.8 Km/Hr (5.3 Knots) flat out, 8 Km/Hr (4.32 Knots) cruising. I gave it a good shakedown around the lake for 2 1/2 hours and all went very well. The mixture control on the Schebler is very precise, it needs to be just right and only needs a small movement to adjust. 1.8 litres of fuel for 2.5 hrs sailing. Some images attached below.
Now, in to the fitting out basin!

Mark's boat is "Fearchar". It is 14' long, 4' 6" beam and draws about 18" of water. A coal fired vertical water tube boiler supplies steam to a single cylinder reciprocating steam engine. However, this shortly will be replaced with a vertical fire tube boiler to increase steam capacity.

Update 4 Jan 2007

Here is photographic evidence of how we spent the holidays!
Mt Pleasant is progressing, almost finished the caulking and some interim
cosmetics on the cabin.
The proof of the job of course will be in the floating, but we are all happy
with the way it is progressing.
To fill you in and for some titles if you like...
After consultation we wrapped her, shrouded could be a better word, to
reswell the timbers, soaking twice a week from a misting system set up
inside. When I estimated the time was right we began the caulking.
This is a family affair with the young gun providing all the muscle power!!!
He is amazing - he appears to have overcome all trepidation at the
responsibility of the seaworthiness and done a great job.
